Finding a makeup artist these days is a challenge. There is so much choice, there are just so many good ones out there. Everyone seems to have impressive qualifications, multiple awards and loads of talent. Finding a great makeup artist for my wedding, however, was PRICELESS.
Because I live halfway across the world from home - my Mom very excitedly took it upon herself to arrange everything that
needed to be done, in Manila. I could not have had anyone better to spearhead t
his momentous event other than my Mom, because I knew without a doubt that she had my best interests at heart. When I reached Manila, everything was done. All I needed to do was fit my dress, and find my makeup artist.
I found Jinky online. After a bit of research, okay, a LOT of research, I found her. Jinky ticked all the boxes: she lived local,it would be a nightmare if, for some reason, my MUA was a no-show on the actual day!), her work was awesome – every bride she made up was gorgeous, she got great reviews and testimonials, and my over-all gut feel about her was good. I remember telling my mom “ I think I found the one”. I did, however, carry on doing trial hair and makeup sessions with a few other artists. And to be fair, all were good, but there was still something missing. I wasn't 100% comfortable, and the looks that were created just didn’t feel like ‘me’.
Jinky came to my house for a makeup trial. She kindly agreed to have the trial session on the same day as our prenup photo shoot. What better way to ‘test drive’ her work than an entire day outdoors – in extreme weather conditions: sweltering heat and then pouring rain. Jinky is a perfectionist. I knew this the moment I came outside to meet her, because she was all set up – from her perfectly laid out makeup table, to her own makeup chair and her airbrush equipment. She was punctual – arriving even before the agreed call time. I liked that she was dead set on getting it right. As she mixed and matched the colors that would suit me, she took down notes. She had a chart on which she wrote down every detail – the exact shade of foundation, eye shadow and lipstick. Foolproof! She left no room for error. She left nothing to chance. I knew, without a doubt, that I was in good hands. Jinky was very ‘present’. She listened to everything I had to say. She asked questions, she presented options. She gave suggestions. I knew she wanted to understand what ‘look’ I had in mind. She’s very calm, and I warmed up to her immediately. It did help too, that she had a great sense of humor and made me laugh. Needless to say, the trial makeup she did lasted the entire day – with no touchups necessary. It was a humid day, then the rain poured down.My hair that started out dead-straight was a tumble of curls by the end of the shoot. But my makeup stayed intact.
Two months prior to our Philippine wedding, we got married in London. My husband is Indian, and we tried to keep tradition. We wore traditional Indian wedding attire – and I can say I did it all: the big hair, bold makeup, heavy lashes, red lips, elaborate jewelry and bangles, intricate detail on my heavily beaded dress and veil, and mehndi (henna) on my hands and feet. I thought, I’ve done that look. I need something different. I wanted something simple and understated. But I wanted to look like me. This was important, because one of the things I worried about most was that our guests would come up to me and say that “I looked so different, and that they hardly recognized me”. Jinky executed the look I wanted, perfectly. She nailed it! Fresh and Natural. She made me look like ME – only more radiant, despite the fact that I was running on two and a half hours of sleep. I was a non-conformist bride – pasaway to say the least. I left all my wedding day tasks till the last minute, and on the wedding day itself, I get a call from Jinky , telling me she was already at the hotel – while I was at the nearby mall having my nails done. So very lastminute.com!
On the day of our wedding, Jinky arrived bright and early. As I showered and changed, she set up. Her mood was very subdued – she was conscious of the fact that my ‘aura’ would not be disturbed. When my wedding coordinator came into the suite to say that it looked like rain, and they needed my decision to move the ceremony indoors, and that my Mom (who also left nothing to chance) was already having the adjacent ballroom to our Reception, set up. My SIL Roce (who was our wedding decorator) did not budge and vehemently said, “I’m willing to risk it!” – and carried on with the original plan of a garden wedding. Through all this, Jinky ensured that I did not stress out. She was particular about the atmosphere in the suite. Despite the team of photographers and videographers, the ambience was of calm and peace. When the pictorial began, Jinky was hands on. She was very involved in making sure that every strand of hair was in place, that my veil was pinned on comfortably and that my train was laid out correctly. She also gave me a very important piece of advice, which I was conscious of the entire time: that I hold my massive sunflower bouquet AWAY from me, so as to not stain my dress. Jinky didn’t leave, she stayed throughout the ceremony and pictorial, right till the Reception, after my ‘change of look’, when they removed my veil and train, and changed my hairstyle. Even then, I still did not need touchups – except for lipstick.
It did slightly drizzle, but subsided even before our guests arrived. And right as we were walking down the aisle – there was not one, but two rainbows above us, as we exchanged our vows. What an awesome sign of happy days to come! Indeed the Lord is faithful to His promises and He does give us the desires of our heart. He works in the background, on our behalf – lining up the right people to cross our paths. I prayed for someone who was good at what they did, wedding pictures last forever, after all. I got Jinky. The bonus here, was that I also gained a friend.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to have gotten their dream wedding. I was blessed twice over. I got two. And though I will honestly say that not everything went to plan, (a few minute details were forgotten, and a couple of minor hiccups here and there) – I still could not have had a better wedding day – for me, it was PERFECT. Everyone who was a part of it just kept blessing us with their time, finances, effort and love. It was my wedding-dream-come-true, indeed.
Would I recommend Jinky to anyone in search of a great makeup artist for what could be one of the biggest day of their lives? Absolutely! IN A HEARTBEAT.
Thank you, Jinky. ♥

Planning a wedding as we all know is one of the most difficult task to accomplish. However, with the help of the right team of people, everything will eventually fall into place and it will be a moment to remember.
I was actually one of t...he lucky ones because my parents and my in-laws were doing all the leg work since I was out of the country. My best friend recommended Ate Jinky to do my hair and make-up. She told me that she's really good at what she does and she uses top of the line products. I told my mom to do more research, call Ate Jinky, ask for pictures, etc. They did all the research, emailed me links to see pictures and I finally decided to go with her. I trusted my mom's and my best friend's instincts on the matter. I am glad I did!!!
We went home a week before the wedding and I met Ate Jinky for the first time during the trial make-up session. She was really accommodating, understanding and patient. She listened to what I wanted and suggested different things that would enhance my features. It was a collaboration and I really appreciated that. On our big day, the preparation was really overwhelming but she made me feel comfortable and of course more beautiful. It was everything I have ever wanted...I couldn't forget my husband's face during that first look. My wedding was a dream come true...a fairy tale come to life. Not only did I get a make-up artist, I also gained a friend. Thanks Ate Jinky!! You made our day extra special. ------- Melaine Mendoza Roman, Federal Way Washington, USA

I had Jinky Ureta as my make up artist for my wedding last April 16, 2011. I found Jinky as an absolute pleasure to deal with, both in the make up trials before the wedding and on my big day . She listened to all my requests for certain sha...des etc. and also offered advice and recommendations on what shades and make up that would suit my skin type.
If there's 3 words to describe Jinky's works, It would be Precision, Excellence, And Freshness .
I got so many compliments on the day of my wedding, they all said that my aura was overflowing.. despite my lack of sleep thanks to Jinky's make up, She made me stunning and fresh.
I would Highly recommend " Make Up by JInky" to anyone who wants to feel extra fabulous for their special day! ------ Josette Gozos Menor, Pasay City, Philippines

Planning for a wedding is much hardwork as it is, but for a sporty girl like me, make up was really not my cup of tea. This even added more work and stress to find someone who will do my make up right for my big day.
I asked Jinky to do m...y trial make up and I can say that it was a very pleasant time with her- very professional and very passionate about her craft. She even took time to meet with me prior to my wedding to make sure she noted every detail for my make up. She really listens to what Her clients really want and more importantly what They dont want.
My big day finally came and I was so happy that I didn't see "another person" in the mirror; nothing un-ME about it, it was 100% the same girl my would be-husband proposed to
Thanks again Jinky for being a part of my wedding. Come to think of it, you made this sporty girl a glowing and blooming bride when she said "I do" . ----- Eileen Lorenzo Bautista, Las Pinas City, Philippines

"I just love how Jinky did my make up for my wedding day. True to her words, it lasted up to my wedding reception with no retouch needed. She works with so much passion and pays close attention to details. Picking her was a no brainer, with the skill and package to match, she easily got my approval.
